In short
In the European Union, micafungin is indicated for the treatment of invasive candidiasis in adults, adolescents, and children, as well as for the treatment of oesophageal candidiasis in patients for whom intravenous therapy is appropriate. It is also indicated in the European Union for the prophylaxis of Candida infection in patients undergoing allogeneic haematopoietic stem-cell transplantation or those expected to have neutropenia for 10 or more days, though its use should consider the potential risk of liver tumours and only occur if other antifungals are not appropriate. In the United States, micafungin is indicated for the treatment of candidemia, acute disseminated candidiasis, Candida peritonitis, and abscesses in adult and pediatric patients, including those younger than 4 months of age without meningoencephalitis and/or ocular dissemination. The United States indications also include the treatment of esophageal candidiasis and the prophylaxis of Candida infections in patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation who are 4 months of age and older. Micafungin is listed by the cited source as having an approved use for the condition candidiasis.

About this page. This page brings together public information from official sources, each cited where it is used. It is not medical advice, it is not a diagnosis, and it does not tell you which treatment to take.
Treatments. Indications are quoted unchanged from official product information (European Medicines Agency, U.S. Food and Drug Administration). They describe what a medicine is approved for, not whether it is right for you. Approved uses can differ between countries. Always read the package leaflet and follow your doctor's or pharmacist's advice.
What people report. Figures marked "reported by Anpheros users" are anonymous counts from at least 20 people who agreed to share them. They show what people report, not what works, and they are not clinical evidence.
