Prevention habits

Ten questions about the habits that prevent disease

Answer ten yes-or-no questions and see which evidence-based habits you already have, with a short tip for each one you do not. It is not a risk calculator and knows nothing about your history: it only shows where effort is known to pay.

In short: the WHO attributes most chronic disease to a short list of habits. This check asks about ten of them, with yes-or-no answers, and shows which you have. For each one you do not, it gives the general advice behind the evidence. It does not calculate your personal risk: that depends on your age, family history, medicines and test results, which only your doctor has.

Ten questions

Smoking, movement, diet, alcohol, sleep, blood pressure, screening, vaccines, dental care, sun.

General tips, not a score

A tip per missing habit, drawn from WHO and national guidance; no percentages, no predictions.

Keep the dates

Anpheros Daily keeps vaccinations, screenings and blood pressure in one record for the whole family.

How to use it

  1. Answer each question honestly; there are no trick questions.
  2. Read the tips for the habits you marked no.
  3. Copy the result for yourself, or keep it in the app with your dates.

The ten habits, and why these

They are the modifiable factors the WHO links to most heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, chronic lung disease and several cancers, plus the preventive checks with the best evidence. The guide on disease prevention habits explains each one and how much it matters. The check uses the thresholds from WHO and national guidance: 150 minutes of moderate activity a week, five portions of fruit and vegetables a day, alcohol at or below national low-risk limits, seven to nine hours of sleep, a blood pressure reading in the last two years, screenings and vaccinations as offered for your age.

What it does not do

It does not know your blood pressure, your cholesterol, your family history or your medicines, so it cannot estimate risk, and a higher count does not mean lower risk than someone else's. It does not diagnose anything and does not replace the health checks your doctor or national programme offers. It runs entirely in your browser; your answers are not sent anywhere unless you choose to keep them in your account.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a health risk calculator?

No. Risk calculators need your blood pressure, cholesterol, age, sex and history. This check only asks about habits and gives general advice; it is a reminder of where the evidence says effort pays.

What is a good score?

There is no good score. Each habit lowers risk on its own; the aim is to add one at a time, starting with the one that matters most to you (for smokers, that one).

Which screenings count?

The ones your national programme offers for your age and sex, typically cervical screening from the twenties and breast and bowel screening from around 50, plus the blood tests your doctor suggests. If you are not sure what you are due, your doctor or the programme's website can tell you.

Why is dental care on a prevention list?

Gum disease is linked to heart disease and diabetes, and regular checks catch problems while they are small. It is one of the cheapest preventive habits.

Can I save the result?

You can copy it as text, or keep it in Anpheros Daily, where the dates of vaccinations, screenings and blood pressure readings live in your record.
