ATC

Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical classification

Updated

ATC is the WHO classification of medicines by active substance, in five levels from the organ system (A, alimentary tract) down to the chemical substance (A10BA02, metformin).

It is international and free, which makes it the usual substance code outside the US; it does not identify a specific product, strength or pack.
