FHIR
Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources
FHIR is the HL7 standard for exchanging health data as small, structured resources (Patient, Observation, Condition and about 150 more) over a REST API in JSON or XML.
Version R4 (4.0.1, 2019) is the one most national programmes, the EU and the US build on; R5 (2023) exists but is less widely required.
