MCP

Model Context Protocol

Updated

MCP is an open protocol that lets an AI assistant call external tools and read external data through a standard server interface, so the same connector works in Claude, ChatGPT and other clients.

An MCP server in front of a FHIR record is how a patient can let an assistant read their own data, with consent and scopes enforced by the server.
