MLLP

Minimal Lower Layer Protocol

Updated

MLLP is the simple TCP framing used to send HL7 v2 messages: each message is wrapped in a start byte and an end byte sequence, and the receiver answers with an ACK.

It has no encryption or authentication of its own, so it lives inside the hospital network or in a VPN.
