Interoperability

Updated

Interoperability is the ability of different systems to exchange health data and to use what they receive without manual re-entry or custom translation.

HIMSS describes four levels (foundational, structural, semantic, organisational); standards such as FHIR and terminologies such as LOINC and SNOMED CT cover the first three.
