RIS
Radiology Information System
A RIS is the radiology department's workflow system: scheduling, orders, worklists for the scanners, dictation and the final report.
It talks to the HIS with HL7 v2 orders and results and to the PACS with DICOM worklists, so the images and the report end up attached to the same study.
