FHIR DocumentReference resource
DocumentReference is the FHIR resource that indexes a document of any format (PDF, scan, CDA, image) with its type, date, author and a link to the content.
It is the FHIR equivalent of an XDS registry entry and the right home for a scanned letter or an external report you cannot structure.
