LIS
Laboratory Information System
A LIS is the laboratory's system that receives orders, tracks specimens, drives the analysers and releases results.
It sends results to the HIS or EHR as HL7 v2 ORU messages (or FHIR Observations), ideally coded in LOINC with UCUM units.
