DPO

Data protection officer (GDPR)

Updated

A DPO is the data protection officer that the GDPR requires public bodies and organisations that process health data on a large scale as a core activity to designate.

The DPO advises on compliance, monitors it, advises on DPIAs and is the contact point for the supervisory authority and data subjects; the role must be independent and free of conflicts of interest.
