Accession number

Accession Number (0008,0050)

Updated

The accession number is the identifier the RIS or another departmental system gives to an imaging order, stored in DICOM tag (0008,0050) and carried from the order through the worklist to the images and the report.

It links the request, the study and the radiology report, and in many hospitals one accession number corresponds to one study.
