Data minimisation
Data minimisation principle (GDPR Article 5(1)(c))
Data minimisation is the GDPR principle that personal data must be adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary for the purposes for which it is processed.
For health systems it means collecting only needed fields, limiting access and retention and using pseudonymised or aggregated data where possible; HIPAA's minimum necessary standard is a close counterpart.
