Modality (DICOM)
DICOM Modality attribute (0008,0060)
In DICOM, modality is both the kind of acquisition device and the attribute (0008,0060) that records it in every series, with defined terms such as CT, MR, US, CR, DX, MG, PT and NM.
Archives and viewers filter and route studies on it, so a QIDO-RS or C-FIND query by modality can return, for example, only a patient's MR series.
