HIPAA Security Rule
HIPAA Security Standards for the Protection of Electronic PHI
The HIPAA Security Rule is the US federal rule that requires covered entities and business associates to protect electronic protected health information with administrative, physical and technical safeguards.
It is built around a risk analysis and includes access control, audit controls, integrity and transmission security; some specifications are required and others addressable according to the organisation's risks.
