ACK

Acknowledgment message (HL7 v2)

Updated

ACK is the HL7 v2 reply that confirms a message was received, with an MSH and an MSA segment whose code is AA (accepted), AE (error) or AR (rejected) and which echoes the original control ID.

The sender waits for it before sending the next message over MLLP, so missing or negative acknowledgments are the first thing to check when an interface stops.
