HIPAA Expert Determination de-identification method

Updated

Expert Determination is the HIPAA de-identification method in which a qualified statistical expert documents that the risk of re-identifying individuals from a dataset is very small for its anticipated recipient.

It can keep more detail than Safe Harbor, such as dates or locations, when combined with controls like generalisation or data use agreements.
