International Patient Access

Updated

IPA (International Patient Access) is the HL7 implementation guide for how a patient-facing app reads a person's own data from a FHIR server, using SMART on FHIR and a small set of profiles such as Patient, Condition, Observation and MedicationRequest.

It is deliberately looser than national guides such as US Core so that it works in any country, and national profiles can build on it; it covers access to existing data, while the IPS defines a summary document.
