Purpose of use
Purpose of use (HL7 PurposeOfUse codes)
Purpose of use is the declared reason for accessing health data, expressed with HL7 codes such as TREAT (treatment), HPAYMT (payment), HRESCH (research) or PUBHLTH (public health).
It is carried in access tokens, consent rules and audit records so that a disclosure can be allowed or refused for a given purpose; ETREAT and BTG mark emergency access.
