MPPS
Modality Performed Procedure Step
MPPS is the DICOM service with which a modality tells the RIS and PACS that an examination has started, then completed or been discontinued, with the series and images actually produced.
It uses N-CREATE and N-SET messages, lets the RIS track exam status and the PACS know when a study is complete, and is part of the IHE Scheduled Workflow profile.
